Establishing a Pollinator Meadow – a Multi-Year Process with Wild Ones Member John Merrill
In this presentation, John will provide an overview of the steps he and Mary have taken to establish a 1-acre pollinator Meadow on their property in Readmond Township. They got underway in the winter of 2021 with a clearing of some invasive Scotch pine trees. With the help of a local farmer, they began to work the soil in the summer of 2021 and established a cover crop of oats by Autumn 2021. Subsequent decisions involved whether to use an herbicide to kill off knapweed and other methods for "weed management."
