The little village at the foot of beautiful Walloon Lake has witnessed many changes since its Victorian-era founding. Always a center of boat works and marinas, the Village was the home of steamboats chugging around the lake to deliver hotel guests. Visitors from Petoskey and beyond flocked to Walloon Village in its early days to enjoy its popular bathing beaches and bath houses. The Village was also the business center of the lake, and once featured quaint shops, cozy restaurants, a wooden bowl factory, bowling alleys, dance halls and even a movie theater. Join lifelong Wallooner Lauren Macintyre on Monday, June 24, at 7:00pm, in the theater at Crooked Tree Arts Center as she explores nearly 150 years of Village history. (Co-sponsored by Little Traverse Historical Society.)
